ASHER'S BIRTH STORY

In the early hours this Mama woke up with waves coming every 2 minutes, this was what she and her birth team had been waiting 41 weeks for! She felt the power with each one that washed over body and knew that it was baby time.

She called her team and we arrived early Saturday morning, walking in you could feel the warmth of the fireplace and the calming sounds of Worship music playing in the background. The lights were off and the twinkle of Christmas lights lit up the space and created such a calm environment.

Mom danced and swayed, breathing her baby down with each wave. She showed so much strength as she embraced the power that was building from within. A few hours later she felt the power build up and she wanted to get into the tub, she climbed it and roared with the wave and with that force her water broke. We all felt like baby boy would be Earth side very soon.

We noticed the waves slowed down and Mom was exhausted, 12 hours after her labor started she still wasn't holding her baby. She tried spinning babies, shower, sleep, food, spinning babies again and her son just wasn't coming down. After a quick cervical exam she was 6 cm and her baby was still very high in her pelvis and she needed rest, she chose to transfer to a Hospital. There was no panic, there was no fear, Mom and baby boy were safe and the birth team worked together to help pack bags, call the hospital and clean up.

Once we arrived to the hospital there was concern with the stall in labor, her uterus had been working for so long that it wasn't making productive contractions so Pitocin was recommended to help out a little bit. Mom continued to work with her body to help her son come down, we rotated, we sat on the thrown, we did hip releases, we did it all and just when they were about to make the call for a c-section her OB was able to move the lip of the cervix over babies head and a RIVER of amniotic fluid flowed out. Out of the bed and down onto the floor like I have never seen before and he said those magical words that we had been holding our breaths to hear, "She is complete".

After all this time she was finally going to meet her son and we were all very excited! She started to push and she pushed and she pushed and pushed some more but since she had never had an epidural it was hard for her to know how to push. She did some tug of war with a nurse and we all cheered her on!! With each wave she worked tirelessly to bring him Earth side! After a hour of pushing the OB recommended using Forceps to help this baby out, with a little help she ROARED her 10 lb 5 oz SUNNY SIDE UP baby right on out!

The room erupted with excitement for Mom and baby!! She did it!! He was here and safe! I will never be tired of seeing women find the strength within themselves they never saw before.
